Getting There

The Trans Nzoia / Mt.Elgon region can be accessed from a number of directions. From Eldoret it is 70 km to Kitale via the A104 and B2 roads.
An alternative, the Ziwa - Kachibora - Sibanga - Kitale road (D328), passing expansive maize farms and, in the distant east, the Cherangany Hills, is more scenic, but much longer and more demanding on a car. It is definitely not to be recommended at this time.

From western Kenya, the A1 from Webuye, passing through Kiminini, offers fine views of Mount Elgon. On a good day, the forest edge, the moorlands and the summit rocks can be clearly discerned. Webuye to Kitale is 52 km.

Beyond Kitale, the A1 links, via Kapenguria, with West Pokot and the remote Turkana region.
There are scheduled flights between Kitale, Eldoret and Lodwar; consult a travel agent for the latest timetable.
